HST
Advocacy Strategy
Public
advocacy is the effort to influence public policy through various
forms of persuasive communication. Public policies include statements,
policies, or prevailing practices imposed by those in authority
to guide or control institutional, community and sometimes-individual
behavior.
HSTs advocacy program's goal was to 'Promote rational attitudes
towards sex, sexuality and gender'.
"What started as efforts to sensitize and make Goverment
Officials and other Policy makers aware that MSM exist has evolved
into advocating for their rights in all facets of Mainstream
Society" ~ Girish Kumar, Administrator, HST

HST
BCC Strategy
Behavior
Change Communication (BCC)
Specific, well-researched, multi-media interventions need to
be strengthened in Maharashtra to bring about primary behavior
change. These approaches must be rooted in community or key
group perceptions and beliefs and must involve these groups
in their formulation and execution, especially where the object
is common norm change. Often the 'hidden norms' on sexual behavior
matters are not openly recognized and conflict greatly with
the stated or public norms of community members and commonly
'gatekeepers'.
Behavior development and behavior change and social change is
possible through strategic communication interventions that
are well founded on research and involve those most affected.

* Project
Management
HST had started its activities in an organized manner in 1994.
However for lack of professional expertise support from within
the community, documentation and development of project management
tools had to wait.
But it became very vital that not only financial management
system need to be put into place but project management tools
will have to be developed to effective management of the projects.
In the month of September 2002 HST started the process of developing
its own Management Information Systems (MIS).

INFOSEM Report
A dream was born when a little over 125 individuals representing
32 organizations from all over the country met at a LGBT
conference that was held at the picturesque Gorai beach
in Mumbai in May 2000. The final resolution at the conference
came when everyone unanimously agreed that there be an umbrella
network of the LGBT groups in the country. This network
would join hands on issues of sexuality, health and human
rights and bring all forces within the community together
to find its right and respectable place in the society.

The
dream finally became a reality in October 2003 when INFOSEM
was officially convened at a press conference in Mumbai.
This
report presents the journey of INFOSEM till March 2006
with a hope that it will pave way for a beautiful and
bright future for INFOSEM and that all that its joint
forces set out to achieve.
