Background

Founded in April 1994, The Humsafar Trust (HST) is India’s first community-based organization (CBO) of self-identified LGBTQ+ persons. Through its Equity & Inclusion initiatives, HST works towards strengthening the socioeconomic inclusion of LGBTQ+ communities by improving access to education, livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic opportunities. This portfolio focuses on addressing barriers to employment and economic participation faced by LGBTQ+ persons through skill-building, career development, entrepreneurship support, scholarships, and workplace inclusion initiatives. 

 

Job responsibilities

The Officer - Equity & Inclusion will support the implementation and coordination of livelihood, employability, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment initiatives. The role will be responsible for program execution, participant engagement, stakeholder coordination, documentation, visibility, and reporting under the guidance of the Equity & Inclusion Manager.

 

Key responsibilities

  1. Programme Coordination & Implementation
    1. Support implementation of livelihood and economic inclusion initiatives, including skill-building, career development, entrepreneurship support, scholarships, and workplace inclusion programmes.
    2. Coordinate outreach, applications, participant onboarding, mentorship engagements, trainings, consultations, and events.
    3. Coordinate skill-development, career readiness, employability, and entrepreneurship-focused activities for LGBTQ+ individuals.
    4. Coordinate logistics for trainings, meetings, consultations, networking opportunities, and community events.
    5. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of programme activities.
  2. Stakeholder & Community Engagement
    1. Build and maintain relationships with community members, entrepreneurs, trainers, mentors, employers, educational institutions, consultants, and partner organisations.
    2. Support entrepreneurship development initiatives, including business incubation, capacity-building workshops, mentorship opportunities, and networking platforms.
    3. Facilitate participant engagement and ongoing communication throughout programme cycles.
  3. Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
    1. Maintain participant databases and programme records.
    2. Track programme outputs and outcomes, including placements, scholarships, entrepreneurship milestones, and other key indicators.
    3. Prepare activity reports, success stories, case studies, presentations, donor updates, and other programme documentation.
    4. Support data collection, analysis, and reporting requirements for internal and donor purposes.
  4. Finance & Administrative Coordination
    1. Support budget utilisation tracking and monitoring of programme expenses.
    2. Coordinate invoice processing, vendor management, procurement, and finance-related documentation.
    3. Maintain organised records and ensure timely submission of programme and financial documents.
  5. Communications & Visibility
    1. Develop visibility and communication materials, including social media content, newsletters, event documentation, impact stories, and promotional materials.
    2. Ensure compliance with donor branding, organisational visibility, and communication guidelines.
    3. Support dissemination of programme achievements, learnings, and impact across relevant platforms.

 

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Strong commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion and economic empowerment.
  • Experience in livelihoods, employability, entrepreneurship development, skill-building, community engagement, or related fields.
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Basic to intermediate financial understanding and experience tracking program budgets and utilisation.
  • Familiarity with entrepreneurship ecosystems, workforce development, or community-based livelihood programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and Hindi is required; additional regional languages are an advantage.
  • Experience in social media, digital outreach, and visibility initiatives is preferred.

 

Compensation

We are an equal-pay employer. The compensation offered is at par with the market rate. The following factors will be considered while finalizing the salary:

  • Experience of the candidate.
  • Community exposure of the candidate.
  • Soft skills of the candidate.
